Valorant Agent Tier List: Best Agents for Every Rank

Choosing an Agent in VALORANT can feel harder than aiming sometimes. The game now has 29 playable Agents across Duelist, Controller, Initiator, and Sentinel roles, and every character offers a different mix of utility, mechanical difficulty, and team value.

The strongest Agent on paper is not always the best pick for your rank. Iron and Bronze matches often reward simple abilities and self-sufficient play, while Immortal and Radiant games place more value on coordinated utility, map control, and precise timing.

This Valorant Agent tier list focuses on competitive solo queue in Patch 13.01. It considers recent win-rate data, popularity across ranks, balance changes, ease of use, and the amount of impact an Agent can create without perfect communication.

A tier list should never replace comfort and experience. A confident Sova player will usually contribute more than someone first-timing Clove because a website placed them in S tier.

Use these recommendations as a starting point, then build a small Agent pool that suits your role and play style.

Valorant Agent Tier List for Patch 13.01

The current solo-queue meta strongly favors Agents who can create value independently. Clove can place smokes while dead, Sage provides simple defensive utility, and Killjoy can control space without constantly relying on teammates.

Tracker Network’s competitive data from the previous two weeks placed Clove at a 52.8% win rate, Sage at 51.8%, and Killjoy at 51.4% across all maps, divisions, and regions. Phoenix, Sova, Fade, Cypher, Raze, Gekko, and Jett also performed competitively.

Tier Recommended Agents
S Tier Clove, Sage, Killjoy
A Tier Phoenix, Sova, Raze, Jett, Gekko, Fade, Cypher
B Tier Reyna, Chamber, Skye, Vyse, Deadlock, Neon, Brimstone, Viper
C Tier Omen, Miks, Veto, Tejo, Breach, Waylay, Iso
D Tier Astra, KAY/O, Yoru, Harbor

This overall ranking is designed for average solo-queue conditions. Omen, Astra, KAY/O, and Yoru can be excellent in coordinated hands, but their abilities are harder to maximize when teammates do not communicate or follow planned utility.

Map choice also matters. Sova may be outstanding on information-heavy maps, while Raze performs better in areas where grenades and movement abilities can clear tight spaces. No Agent belongs in exactly the same tier on every map.

Best Agents for Iron and Bronze

1. Clove, Sage, Phoenix, and Reyna

Iron and Bronze players benefit most from Agents with straightforward abilities and clear round-to-round jobs. Complicated lineups and carefully timed team combinations often produce less value because communication is inconsistent.

Clove is arguably the strongest all-purpose choice. Their smokes help the team, while Pick-Me-Up encourages active fighting. Clove can also place smokes after dying, meaning one early mistake does not remove all of their utility.

Sage is another excellent beginner Agent. Her wall can block dangerous entrances, Slow Orbs delay pushes, and healing provides obvious value. Patch 13.00 increased Sage’s self-heal-over-time from 50 to 100, improving her ability to recover after surviving a fight.

Phoenix and Reyna work well for players who want to improve their gunfights. Phoenix has self-healing, flashes, a wall, and an ultimate that gives him a temporary second chance. Reyna is more dependent on getting kills, so she becomes less useful when the player is losing aim duels.

At these ranks, avoid choosing an Agent simply because they have flashy movement. Learn crosshair placement, trading, and basic map awareness first.

Best Agents for Silver and Gold

2. Clove, Killjoy, Sage, Gekko, and Sova

Silver and Gold players begin to use utility more deliberately, but matches are still unpredictable. The best Agents offer reliable value without requiring perfect team coordination.

Killjoy is one of the strongest defensive picks. Her Turret can watch an angle, Alarmbot provides information, and Nanoswarms can delay plants or defuses. Patch 13.00 increased the Turret’s fire rate, extended Nanoswarm duration, and improved Alarmbot movement speed.

Gekko is especially useful for solo queue because his abilities are easy for teammates to understand.

Dizzy gathers information, Wingman can plant or defuse the Spike, and reclaiming his creatures allows repeated utility use. His reclaim cooldown was reduced from 20 seconds to 15 seconds in Patch 13.00.

Sova becomes more valuable once players learn a few simple recon locations. You do not need dozens of complicated lineups. A basic Recon Bolt that reveals a site before entry can already change an entire round.

Silver and Gold are good ranks for choosing one main Agent and one backup in another role. This prevents every match from becoming a fight over the Duelist slot.

Best Agents for Platinum and Diamond

3. Clove, Killjoy, Sova, Raze, and Jett

Platinum and Diamond matches are faster and more organized. Players punish predictable utility, trade more consistently, and understand common defensive setups.

Sova becomes one of the safest Initiator choices because information is increasingly valuable. Patch 13.00 reduced the signature cooldown for Sova, Fade, Skye, Breach, and KAY/O from 60 to 50 seconds, giving them more opportunities to influence late rounds.

Raze is a strong Duelist for clearing corners and creating space. Paint Shells punish predictable positions, while Blast Packs let skilled players enter sites quickly.

Jett remains popular because her dash can reduce the risk of taking aggressive fights. However, she provides limited team utility when the player cannot secure opening kills or create space.

Killjoy and Cypher are excellent for players who prefer controlling the map instead of taking every duel. Their utility can watch flanks, gather information, and force attackers to spend time clearing defensive equipment.

At this level, map-specific Agent pools become more valuable. Instead of playing one character everywhere, learn two or three Agents that cover different maps and roles.

Best Agents for Ascendant and Immortal

4. Clove, Jett, Raze, Sova, Fade, and Killjoy

Ascendant and Immortal players are good enough to punish inefficient ability use. Utility should have a clear purpose, whether it is gathering information, forcing movement, denying vision, or creating a favorable duel.

Clove remains powerful because they combine Controller utility with aggressive personal impact. They are also highly popular in upper ranks. June 2026 data showed Clove among the most-played Agents from Ascendant through Radiant.

Sova and Fade are strong because accurate information allows teammates to coordinate fast attacks. Raze and Jett remain reliable entry options, while Killjoy provides valuable site control and post-plant utility.

Omen deserves consideration despite weaker overall solo-queue statistics. His flexible smokes and teleport options become more useful when teammates understand how to play around them. The same applies to Viper, whose value depends heavily on map selection and coordinated timing.

Yoru received a Gatecrash duration increase from 15 to 20 seconds in Patch 13.01. He remains mechanically demanding, but experienced players now have more time to create rotations, fakes, and teleport pressure.

Best Agents for Radiant

5. Jett, Clove, Phoenix, Raze, and Sova

Radiant is different from ordinary ranked play. Players generally have stronger mechanics, deeper map knowledge, and a better understanding of how to convert utility into round wins.

June 2026 Radiant data placed Jett and Clove in the highest tier by popularity and performance. Clove recorded a 54.0% win rate, while Jett reached 52.9%. Phoenix and Raze also posted strong results, showing that self-sufficient Duelists can remain effective even at the highest level.

Jett is valuable because elite players can combine precise Operator shots with quick escape options. Clove offers reliable smokes and the freedom to take more aggressive fights than most Controllers.

Sova remains one of the best Initiators for teams that communicate. His Recon Bolt and Owl Drone can provide the exact information needed for a coordinated execute or retake.

However, the Radiant meta is highly map-dependent. Pro-level tournament data also shows that Agent selection can change dramatically between maps, with different Controllers, Initiators, and Duelists dominating individual locations.

Best Agent for Each Role

6. Best Duelist: Raze

Raze offers entry power, damage utility, movement, and corner-clearing tools. She can create space even when her first bullet misses, making her less dependent on pure aim than Reyna.

Jett is the stronger alternative for Operator players, while Phoenix is easier for beginners who want flashes and self-healing.

7. Best Controller: Clove

Clove is the best solo-queue Controller because they can help the team while playing aggressively. Their post-death smokes also reduce the punishment for dying early.

Brimstone is a simpler alternative, while Omen offers more flexibility for experienced players.

8. Best Initiator: Sova

Sova provides reliable information and works across many skill levels. Simple Recon Bolts are enough for beginners, while advanced players can learn lineups, drone routes, and ultimate combinations.

Gekko is the easiest alternative for players who prefer flexible, reusable utility.

9. Best Sentinel: Killjoy

Killjoy combines information, site control, damage, and a powerful retake or execute ultimate. Her kit remains useful even when she is not actively taking fights.

Sage is easier for new players, while Cypher is excellent for players who enjoy gathering information and controlling flanks.

How to Choose the Right Agent to Climb

Choose one main role and learn two Agents within it. Add one simple backup Agent from another role for matches where your preferred position is already taken.

Your Agent pool should contain different strengths. A Duelist player could learn Raze for tight maps and Jett for open maps. A Controller player could use Clove for solo queue and Viper for maps that reward long walls and fuel management.

Do not change your main after every balance patch. Small Agent adjustments rarely matter as much as positioning, communication, aim, and knowing how to use your utility.

The best Agent for climbing is usually the one you understand deeply enough to make good decisions under pressure. Mastering ten common situations with one character is more useful than knowing only the ability descriptions of the entire roster.

The best VALORANT Agent depends on your rank, role, map, and personal strengths. Iron and Bronze players benefit from simple, self-sufficient picks such as Clove, Sage, and Phoenix.

Silver through Diamond players can gain more value from Killjoy, Gekko, Sova, Raze, and Jett as utility coordination improves.

At Ascendant, Immortal, and Radiant, map knowledge and team timing become increasingly important. Clove remains a strong solo-queue option, while Jett, Raze, Sova, and specialized Controllers reward skilled execution.

Choose two or three Agents, learn their basic setups on every competitive map, and play them consistently. Use this tier list to narrow your options, then enter the Practice Range and find the Agent that makes you feel confident in real matches.
